Musjidul Huda Port Elizabeth

Our History

The Legacy of Musjidul Huda, Port Elizabeth

Musjidul Huda was established in the year 2000, becoming the first and only masjid in the suburb at the time. As the Muslim community grew, so did the need for a larger space to accommodate musallis. Just four years later, the house next door was acquired, allowing the masjid to expand. Yet, even with this addition, the congregation for Jumu’ah salah continued to overflow onto the streets—a powerful sign of the masjid’s growing role in the lives of its people.

Five years ago, another neighboring property was purchased, marking the beginning of further renovations to enhance the masjid’s facilities. Today, work continues as we strive to complete these improvements, ensuring a space that not only meets the needs of musallis but also serves as a beacon of faith, unity, and learning.

Musjidul Huda is more than just a place of prayer—it is a cornerstone of the community. Each of the five daily salahs is attended by approximately 300 to 350 musallis, reflecting the masjid’s deep-rooted significance in the hearts of those who gather here. The upper floor is home to 50 full-time students, who are nurtured in an environment of Islamic knowledge and spiritual growth. With a capacity to accommodate 1,000 musallis, the masjid fills to the brim every Jumu’ah, a testament to the unwavering faith and dedication of its people

From its humble beginnings to its ongoing expansion, Musjidul Huda stands as a symbol of perseverance, devotion, and the unbreakable bond of a community united in salah.
